Baby Shower Invitations a la Peter Rabbit!

I had the great opportunity last month to organize a baby shower for a co-worker.  She was expecting a baby boy so I thought I would use my Peter Rabbit stamp.  I simply adore Peter because my kid's nursery was Beatrix Potter.  I have several of the Crafter's Companion stamps that are now retired.

Peter was stamped in brown Archival Ink onto Bristol paper.  This is Brandy's new find. She has been researching great stamping techniques and came up with this paper.  A fabulous (3 for 1) sale at Michael's and I have some in the stash.  The image is crisp since the paper has very little texture, just the weight and small amount of texture make watercoloring easy.  I layered Frayed Burlap, Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain Distress Markers onto the image using a water brush.  The coat is Faded Jeans, again layered to create dimension.  A little Worn Lipstick Distress Marker in the inner ear and cheeks of Peter and I'm done.  I cut the brown cardstock and Peter out with my fabulous Simon Says Stamp stitched rectangles dies.

I ended up making about 30 of these invitations.  I used a paper pad to coordinate the background patterned paper and various twill ribbons.  The sentiment and information were all printed onto the Bristol paper using the computer and my printer. The paper doesn't like to run through the printer like other cardstock paper.  I may restrict it's use to stamping.  Still, a great add to the supplies.

Baby Boy Card

I just couldn't resist on more Peter Rabbit card.  Peter Rabbit is a part of the Crafter's Companion stamp set I've been watercoloring over the past several weeks.  Peter was stamped in black Archival Ink onto watercolor paper. I colored Peter with Walnut Stain, Vintage Photo, Antique Linen, Faded Jeans and Worn Lipstick Distress Markers and then cut him out with my Timeless Rectangles die.  The patterned paper and cardstock are all from the stash.   I think this is my favorite of the set I made, though that might be until I go back and look at all the others.  I've enjoyed this little adventure into the Briar Patch.  The wee ones are always fun to create cards for.

More Distress Ink Watercolors- Beatrix Potter Baby Card

Peter Rabbit is a part of the Crafter's Companion stamp set I've been watercoloring over the past several weeks.  This card my mom used for her attendance with my grandma at the baby shower.  Peter was stamped in black Archival Ink onto watercolor paper. I colored Peter with Walnut Stain, Vintage Photo, Antique Linen, Faded Jeans and Worn Lipstick Distress Markers and then cut him out with my stitched rectangles die.  The patterned paper and cardstock are all from the stash.  That stripe worked perfectly so I joined it on the gift bag.

All those stripes were used on an invitation about 2 years back and so I had plenty to adhere to the bag.  The Cherish sentiment is easily a decade old- a word set of metal letters that I'd long since used the Baby and Love from.  They thread through ribbon, so I used it here.  I think the bag turned out perfect, don't you?

Rockin' Away- Another Baby Boy Card

I had stamped and colored a couple of the Crafter's Companion's Beatrix Potter images.  This time colored with Faded Jeans, Walnut Ink, Vintage Photo, Gathered Twigs, Peeled Paint and Worn Lipstick Distress Markers.  I used my Timeless Rectangles die to cut out the image.  It works well here, don't you think!  The sentiment was stamped using the Crafter's Companion sentiment from the set which I then die cut out, edging in Walnut Stain Distress ink and raised with a foam square or three.  All the patterned papers come from the scrap heap.  My grandma or mom ended up taking this card to be used on a future baby shower, which reminds me I forgot to share the photos of my Mom's present.  I wrapped her present for the show too.  I'll hunt down the photos and get them posted!

Baby Boy Gift and Card Set

My grandma was in town a few weeks ago to attend the baby shower for one of my cousin's son who is having his first baby.  This is a great-great grandchild for my grandma.  I just couldn't resist making a card and offering to wrap the gift.  This is the story:

The centerpiece of this card was made using my Crafter's Companion Beatrix Potter stamp set.  This stamp set appears to be retired so I'll be glad I am the proud owner.  I stamped in black Archival Ink onto watercolor paper and colored with my Distress Markers.  I believe the colors used are Faded Jeans, Scattered Straw, Walnut Ink, Vintage Photo, Gathered Twigs and Worn Lipstick.


The image was die cut after coloring using my Spellbinders Scalloped Ovals die.  The brown cardstock and patterned paper were both from the scrap heap.  The sentiment is also a Crafter's Companion in the Beatrix Potter set stamped with brown Archival Ink.  The flag is edged in Walnut Stain Distress ink.  On the inside, a simple little sentiment in brown Archival Ink- Welcome Little One!






I couldn't resist offering to wrap the gift. I had some kraft wrapping paper and leftover blue and brown fibrous yarn.  The sentiments are stamped with my Heartfelt Creations Sweet Lullaby stamp set and die cut with the Once Upon a Time die.  So perfect for the little boy who is on his way to us.

Sweet Little Angel Card

I apologize for the tilt on this photo.  Don't know what I was thinking- probably rushing the photo taking process.  The card turned out lovely enough that I just had to share it even though the photo is less than stunning!

Here's the details-

• The patterned paper is from the stash- I think these were actually scraps from the heap.  It's a different color combo for a baby girl card but that's why I picked it.  
• The sentiments were stamped in black Archival Ink using the Heartfelt Creations Sweet Lullaby stamp set and then die cut with the Once Upon a Time die.  I colored the flower with a Worn Lipstick Distress Marker.  
• The focal image is stamped onto watercolor paper using black Archival Ink using my Crafter's Companion Two Bad Mice stamp.  
• I colored the image with my Distress Markers using the watercoloring technique- Walnut Stain, Vintage Photo, Squeezed Lemonade, and Worn Lipstick. The image was then die cut with my Our Daily Bread Designs Elegant Ovals.  A coordinating piece of cardstock was also cut with a larger die.
• A small piece of organza ribbon was then tied in a bow and adhered with Crystal Accents.

This card I do have a purpose for.  I need to get it off in the mail.  Headed there now.

Welcoming a New Baby

My cousin's daughter, Taryn, is expecting her first child.  I whipped up this card for the baby shower last weekend and I'm just getting to posting.  I'm off today to work for Heartfelt Creations at the Phoenix CK convention.  I'm a little giddy that little 'ole me gets to work for them.  Here's the details:

• The patterned paper flags were made from MME's The Sweetest Thing- Tangerine papers.  
• The sentiment was stamped in black Archival Ink and is stamped with a Crafter's Companion Beatrix Potter Female Sentiments stamp.
• The image is stamped onton watercolor paper using black Archival Ink using my Crafter's Companion Two Bad Mice stamp.  
• I colored the image with my Distress Markers using the watercoloring technique- Walnut Stain, Vintage Photo, Squeezed Lemonade, Spiced Marmalade, and Worn Lipstick. 
•  The scalloped circle was cut from a coordinating piece of patterned paper using my Spellbinders Lacey Circles. 
• The background is a piece of embossed, textured cardstock from the stash.
• The ribbon is a small scrap leftover from a old project.

The soon-to-be mama was pleased.  This will be the fourth or fifth great-great grandchild for my grandma.  I'm feeling particularly nostalgic.  My son graduates high school next May and I find myself praying to God that we might celebrate that special occasion with both my grandparents.   May God make it so.  In the meantime, I'm going to try to sell some Heartfelt Creations product over the next two days.  If you are in the area, stop by and say hi!

A Get Well Wish

I created another get well card for my grandma.  She's got to be wondering what the fuss is all about considering how well the surgery went and how positive her healing is progressing.  If she searched her mind and heart she'd know that I need little prodding to take time to craft.  She's just been the narrow focus for a while.


Here's the details:

• The image was stamped onto watercolor paper using brown Archival Ink and colored with  Distress Markers using the watercoloring technique- Walnut Stain, Vintage Photo, Scattered Straw, Fired Brick, Weathered Wood, and Worn Lipstick.  
• The patterned papers and the flower are all from Basic Grey's Sweet Threads. A gem accent was added to the paper flower to bling it up.
• The branches and leaves were cut from various dies, most notably my ODBD Fancy Foliage set.  I actually had these on hand/leftover from various other projects.
• The organza ribbon is actually pink and I sponged it with some Ripe Persimmons Distress Ink to bring it closer to the color scheme.  
• The sentiment was stamped and cut using my Heartfelt Creations Burnished Key stamp and die.  I edged the frame with Ripe Persimmons Distress Ink to bring it more closely in line with the color scheme.  

My wish for my grandma is that she continue on the path towards healing in the rapid and productive manner that she began.  We couldn't have hoped for a better outcome and I am grateful.

Two Bad Mice- Another Get Well Card

Here's another quick card I made using my Crafter's Companion Beatrix Potter stamp set.  The polka dot paper is from American Crafts City Park collection.  The stickers come from my Basic Grey Sweet Threads collection.  The image was stamped onto watercolor paper using brown Archival Ink and colored with my Distress Markers using the watercoloring technique- Walnut Stain, Vintage Photo, Scattered Straw, Fired Brick, and Worn Lipstick.

These cards are becoming quite the set.  Unfortunately (or fortunately depending upon how you look at it), I'm writing them up and sending them out just as fast as I can make them.  This one was removed from the stamped, addressed envelope as I forgot to photograph it.  Maybe I'll do a repeat performance and make a gift set with a box.  Still, I'm sure my grandma will love these cards and ultimately, that was my purpose in making them anyway.

Some Get Well Love

Another card using my Crafter's Companion stamp set.  Here's the details:

• The image was stamped onto watercolor paper using brown Archival Ink.  
• I colored the image with my Distress Markers using the watercoloring technique- Walnut Stain, Vintage Photo, Scattered Straw, Fired Brick, and Worn Lipstick.  
• The patterned papers are all from Basic Grey's Sweet Threads. 
• The green organza ribbon is a reuse from the stash.  It works so very well here!

 
I also sent this card to my grandma during her recovery from surgery.  She has a well know endearing habit of raising one hand hear her cheek and making a very small wave to draw in great-grandchildren whom she hasn't seen for months.  Her simple wave almost always overcomes their shy tendencies and they climb right in her lap.  Mrs. Mouse looks just like my short grandma as she waves with her broom in her hand.  This one brings a smile to my face!  I'm sure grandma noticed and was pleased.

This card was made in almost exactly the same manner.  She's a busy little mouse.  Those papers are a perfect match.  I have plans to make more cards with this stamp set as I really enjoyed making these.  We'll just have to see how that works out for me.

Get Well Card

I've owned a Crafter's Companion stamp set since last year's CK convention in April.  My children's nursery (17 years ago, yikes!) was Beatrix Potter design and I've loved her art every since.  Truthfully, I read the books when I was a kid.  Here's the details:

• The image was stamped onto watercolor paper using brown Archival Ink.  
• I colored the image with my Distress Markers using the watercoloring technique- Walnut Stain, Vintage Photo, Faded Jeans, Broken China, and Worn Lipstick.  
• The patterned papers are all from Basic Grey's Sweet Threads.  It's hard to believe this paper has been in the stash for nearly three years.  Wow time flies.
• The arrow comes from the Sweet Threads sticker page.  I stamped the sentiment in black Archival Ink with my ODBD Ornate Borders sentiment stamp. 

This beauty was sent to my grandma during her recovery from surgery.  It is sure to have brought a smile to her face.
