A Set of Sunshine Cards

I decided to play around and make a few notecards as a stress reliever.  In this case, I used an old technique from my Creative Chemistry online card class - Distress Highlight Stamping.  Only I didn't use any Distress Ink this time.  I simply stamped with white ink onto Kraft paper and then used my colored pencils to color the white ink.  This allows for a handmade look to the stamped image.  I had to give up a little on the perfectionist side of me, but it is good to let her have a nap once in a while.

I white embossed the sentiment using my WPlus9 Hand Lettered Hello stamp set.  It was the perfect offset to this image and these A2 sized cards.

I finished the card front using a stitched die - just a straight edge that created some interest so I could keep the card simple, but also a bit dressed up.

These notecards will go in the stash and probably end up a gift at some point.  They served their purpose during a stressful time - giving me a creative outlet and using some of those supplies that have long gone unused.

Flowery Birthday Card

In my family, my husband refers to October, November and December as birthday season.  We have quite a few of the family birthdays in a short 8 week period right around the holidays.  Brandy has a birthday season of her own, but it occurs around March and so she's been on a roll lately.  I get the pleasure of sharing this lovely with you today.

The flowers were stamped in Copic friendly ink onto white cardstock using WPlus9's Doodle Buds stamp set.  Brandy colored the flowers and leaves with her Copic markers and used some foam tape to raise the flowers making them 3D.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set.  Such a bright a beautiful card - its a great choice for a spring birthday card, don't you think?

Since she's on a roll, I'll have more Brandy creations to share with you just as soon as I edit the photos and get them posted.  Stay tuned!

A New Home

I'm back today to share a change of address notification card that I made for my grandmother.  They recently moved from Colorado to Arizona and now live 12 miles from me.  Yay!  I couldn't resist the urge to combine stamps from my Papertrey Ink Winter Village stamp set with my Art Impressions Foliage stamp set to create this lovely scene.  The inks used are also Papertrey Ink Dark Chocolate, Simply Chartreuse, Soft Granite, Sweet Blush and Lovely Lady inks.

I printed the text out at FedEx again with their white, matte cardstock.  This makes it easy to handle and stamp over.  I die cut the image out with my WPlus9 Sunshine Layers die to create that fabulous stitched frame.  All in all, I think it pleased her to send out this card to her friends and family.  Moving at 90 (my grandfather is 92) is a daunting task and making these for her to show off was a pleasure.

Recycling a Thank You

Since I've been a bit busy, I thought I'd throw together this cute little thank you card.  The bear with his sentiment was given as a thank you in my Ellen Hudson order and I just couldn't throw him out.  I cut away the signature and added him to this patterned paper and ribbon from the stash - very simple but great use of recycling.  Hope your week ends spectacularly.

Welcome Home

I get the lovely opportunity to share this card made by Brandy today.  She needed to wish a friend a happy new home and this card is her work of art.  So full of fun details to catch your eye.  Brandy used the Art Impressions Cottage and Die set along with her Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers  on Bristol paper to create the image.  That's her handwriting in the sentiment folks...Such a wonderful way to wish someone a brand new start in their home, don't you think?
