More Thank You Cards

I had some leftover pieces on the workbench from my Thank You cards and thought they shouldn't go to waste - how many times do I scoop these pieces up and put them in the stash for "another day" only for them to stay in the pile for months (or years!) and then be thrown out.  These cards were quick to go together from white cardstock which I Distress Oxide Ink blended.  Totally worth the time and effort.  I like these as well as the others, though they were my first inspiration.

Happy Thanksgiving

I happen to have a November birthday.  This makes for a need for a set of Thank You cards right around Thanksgiving.  I was so delighted with the Spellbinders October Large Die of the Month which featured these fall inspired die cuts. 

The background was stamped with WPlus 9 Wild Mango ink using my Concord and 9th Barnwood background stamp.  The die cuts were made from white cardstock that I had Distress Oxide Ink blended and then die cut.  The photos don't do the color differences justice - they really have some depth because of the ink blending.

I doubly have reason to be thankful today as 21 years ago this morning my daughter Katie was born.  We'll spend the better part of today with family to celebrate the holiday and tomorrow is a small party with family and friends.  I feel so blessed by both my kids, but this is a momentous day for her and I will make sure she knows how blessed I am with her grown womanhood.  Happy Birthday, Katie.

Just Sitting Here Thinking About A 95th Milestone Birthday Card

My grandfather recently celebrated his 95th birthday.  I adore my grandfather and wanted to make a special card for his birthday since it is kinda a milestone.  I thought about making a card featuring "9" and "5", but I had previously done that for 90 and so I wanted something different.

I think this scene card created with MFT's Make Yourself At Home stamp set was a perfect solution.  I stamped, colored and fussy cut out all of the furniture and decorative pieces.  Trying for a homey, but masculine feel, I decided to add the more neutral colored lamp and vase.  I think it worked!  The card base and the floor are stamped using my Concord and 9th Barnwood background stamp.

On the inside, a sentiment stamped with my Concord and 9th Happy Day stamp set.  The "H" in my Happy stamp has lost a serif, but I couldn't resist getting the "9" and "5" on here somewhere!

Since I had the pieces on the table, I decided for a much more feminine look on this second card.  I like them both, but think the one for my grandfather is more fitting.  I forgot how fun making a scene can be...

A House Warming Gift and Card

 My sister moved into a new-to-her house and I just had to make her a card.  This is my endeavor.  I knew she enjoyed a little red and so I let that guide the color selection.  The stamp set I used is WPlus9 Welcome Wreath and the background was stamped using Concord and 9th  Barnwood background stamp.

I had saved a red sand filled hourglass from her house when she moved.  She was feeling stressed and at the last minute suggested that the hourglass should be given away.  I saved it and gave it back to her with this card to welcome her home.
