Happy Thanksgiving

I happen to have a November birthday.  This makes for a need for a set of Thank You cards right around Thanksgiving.  I was so delighted with the Spellbinders October Large Die of the Month which featured these fall inspired die cuts. 

The background was stamped with WPlus 9 Wild Mango ink using my Concord and 9th Barnwood background stamp.  The die cuts were made from white cardstock that I had Distress Oxide Ink blended and then die cut.  The photos don't do the color differences justice - they really have some depth because of the ink blending.

I doubly have reason to be thankful today as 21 years ago this morning my daughter Katie was born.  We'll spend the better part of today with family to celebrate the holiday and tomorrow is a small party with family and friends.  I feel so blessed by both my kids, but this is a momentous day for her and I will make sure she knows how blessed I am with her grown womanhood.  Happy Birthday, Katie.

Sending Thanksgiving Wishes

As we enter the week where we celebrate Thanksgiving, I just had to share this card made by Brandy using her Art Impressions Grateful Hearts stamp set.  Stamped onto WPlus9 Oatmeal cardstock with a beige ink, Brandy colored the image with her Polychromos pencils using a no-line coloring technique.  The sentiment was also stamped in light ink and then colored over with a black pencil.  The result is even more spotlighted by the Distress ink blending around the image - making this charming hamster pilgrims the center of attention.

Thanksgiving Cards

So, I'm not doing enough and I recently purchased that DeNami Designs pumpkins stamp.  I thought some well timed Thanksgiving cards were in order.  I picked this card design up off a card in my Pinterest board.  I looked for something purposefully simple and yet charming.  I found that plaid paper and the acorns at Hobby Lobby (I know- I didn't need to buy paper!) and pulled some matching metallics out to match. 





The linen ribbon came from a LSS, 99 cents for a yard which is just enough for the six cards I made with it.  I stamped the image with brown Archival ink.  I then colored in the pumpkin with my Rusty Hinge Distress Marker, the leaves with my Peeled Paint Distress Marker and the stems with my Walnut Stain Distress Marker.  The colors were very dark, not very colorful at all.  I took my waterbrush to them and that really brightened them up.  However, as the image was drying the ink bled through the linen and ruined my sample.  My solution, after applying the water with the waterbrush I placed a paper towel over the top and blotted off the excess.  The linen quickly dried and not bleeding.  Yeah.


 I also tried a piece of watercolor paper as in the sample above.  I didn't like the look nearly as much.  This one works, but is not quite the look of the linen ribbon card . 

On the inside was a simply stamped Happy Thanksgiving and a fussy cut little pumpkin- adhered flat to the page.
