National Scrapbook Day

Saturday was National Scrapbook Day. Brandy was so kind she invited me to her house for a scrapbook party - mind you not a card making party which is what I now mostly do.  A scrapbook party.  Brandy and I met through scrapbooking - attending a CK Scrapbook Convention 13 years ago this spring together.  At the time, I really wasn't into papercrafting at all.  Scrapbooking with Brandy became a hobby and turned into card making as my kids grew older and I fell in love with stamping.

Brandy didn't miss the opportunity to be kind (she's just like that!) so she had this small gift set out for me with the pretty little gift card - handmade by Brandy.  Boy, did I feel special!

So, I decided to jump right in and use those supplies.  They didn't fit the scrapbook pages I was working on so Imade this card.  The gold edges are made using that fantastic teal and gold tape.  White embossed sentiment on black cardstock makes this card a graphic delight.  Well out of my normal style, which is a nice departure.  I'm so grateful to Brandy for her gift and her friendship.  I've some Mother's Day cards to post, but I'll promise to eventually photograph and post pictures of my pages made at our scrapbook party.

More on the Mother's Day Theme

Oh how I love my Altenew Peony Bouquet stamp and dies.  Of all my layering flower stamp sets, this set is the easiest to use and get the best results.  This card turned out exactly as I visioned it.  The background die was cut using my Heartfelt Creations Raindrops on Roses die - now retired.  I used the faux metal technique, which has become a go-to, too create the shiny gold die cut.  I added gold glitter watercolor splatters using my Zig Starry Colors.

Some gold sequins finish off this card,  Of all the cards, this was my favorite to make - because the stamp set is so fun, because I always love the watercolor and because gold and a rose pink is really working on me recently.

Yours Truly for Mother's Day

I had some sparkly mint paper left over from another project and decided to be inspired by the rose pink and mint combination.  I had seen a Pinterest Pin with a similar layout, but different pieces and thought that my Papertrey Ink Fresh Floral Wrap Ups stamp and dies would work well.  I'm really pleased with how this card set turned out.

On the inside - a sentiment stamped in matching ink. Keeping the sentiments simple, I think encourages the giver write a sentimental note and/or leave less said if your relationship with your mom is a bit strained or difficult.  Since I meant to include these in the cards for the fundraiser sale, I followed this consideration.

They look so yummy all together.  I really enjoyed making these cards and have a few more to share with you.  I'm struggling to find time to edit photos and get them posted.  I'll keep focused and hopefully be back soon.

Popping Up to Wish a Happy Mother's Day

I picked up one of the Lawn Fawn Scalloped Card Pop-Up die because Nicole Spohr is so very inspiring.  I thought the first best use would be to make some Mother's day cards and here's my effort.

I used my Simon Says Stamp's Spring Flowers stamp.  I white heat embossed the flowers on some watercolor paper and used my Mission Gold watercolors to color them before fussy cutting them out.   The sentiment is a combination of stamps and my SSS Tilted Banners die.

The dies make it so easy to put these cards together.  I look forward to making more cards from this die set and then filling them with various different themed die cuts.  So fun.

I added these to those cards for the card sale and imagine the purchaser's excitement and the recipient's joy.

Just for the Sheer Joy of It Card

Sharing this card that Brandy made just for the fun of it.  She related a story about a trip to Michael's recently.  A package of washi tape made her happy and she just knew that for $10 with a 60% off coupon you cannot leave that kind of happiness behind.

The idea for this card was instant and since it made her so happy, she sent it off to the receipient because she also wanted them to be happy!  The card was made using the "ink smooshing" technique with Distress in for the background.  There is some Zig Starry Colors gold glitter watercolor splattered on the background if you look close enough.
