Another Set of Cards Using Rubbernecker Stamps

I'm here to tell you that I enjoy me a good Rubbernecker stamp.  In this case I cracked open my Blue Flowers stamp and my Prima Oil Pastels again to make a slightly different take from the set of cards I made that I shared with you in this post.

However, the technique and assembly are the same:

I used the oil pastel to color the solid version of the stamp and a waterbrush to blot water and activate the color.  The outline was then stamped in black Archival Ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.

The hello sentiment was stamped in grey hybrid ink and the darling stamped on colored hybrid ink with clear embossing powder.   I fussy cut the darling sentiment from the vellum paper to create a bit of interest.

All panels were then mounted onto colored card bases.  I'm super happy with how these turned out and plan to give them away as gifts.  If you haven't tried the Rubbernecker watercolor set, I'd recommend giving them a try.  They make card making look easy!

Our Beautiful World - Play

The ladies over at Our Beautiful World are at it again with a new word prompt this morning,  Play.  There's adorable photos of at least two dogs ready to play.  We're currently dog less and to soothe my poor dog less heart I pulled out these photos of my daughter's marching band so that I could share as well.

These photos are from the last time I saw the band play together, at the Fiesta Bowl parade.  My daughter,  Katie, started her last year in marching band on Tuesday.  They are currently in the middle of band camp,  the two weeks before school where they train the freshman and begin the process of learning to play together.

I've long said that I'd join an adult co-ed marching band league if there where such a thing!  Since this geek-fest league doesn't exist, I experience vicariously though my daughter.   I intend to enjoy every minute of this last year and savor the fun as it comes.

Ginny's Coloring Book

A friend of mine has a granddaughter, Ginny, who is just the age for coloring books.  I thought this handmade coloring book made using my Gorjuss stamps was just the thing.  I used some very old rub on letters to title this book and a matching tag embellishment from the patterned paper set.

Each page has some Bristol paper where I stamped the Gorjuss girl stamps.  Bristol paper behaves well with many different media, including colored pencils and crayons.  

My thought was that Ginny might want to imagine each girl's story and have her mom help to write that story, including her name, in the opposing page.  This is why I stamped a journaling frame on some pages.

I also used a patterned paper set that was in the stash.  I've previously mentioned that I intended to use up some of the stash and this is one example of how I've dreamed up getting these pretty papers together to give away.

I decided to use book rings to bind the project.  This way Ginny and her mom could remove the page to color it flat and then return the page to the book.  The front and back cover are covered in this fantastic faux wood paneling paper.  The perfect finish to this adorably simple book.

What are some creative ways you've thought up to use your patterned papers.  There's definitely a trend toward making your own patterned paper through stamping, but I just can't forget the beautiful papers that are waiting to be used in the stash.  Go, put them to use!

Another Peacock Pretty

I promised to share another peacock card.  This is the result of that effort.  I stamped my Peacock Swirls stamp  using Peacock Feathers Distress ink onto watercolor paper and then colored using my Mission Gold watercolors.   The peacock was then die cut using the coordinating die.

The frame is a Spellbinders die and the flower was cut from yellow cardstock using my Heartfelt Creations Delicate Asters die finished with some Art Glitter Institute Bee Hive Elements.

I'm not super pleased with the sentiment stamped with some antique linen embossing powder.   It is easier to read I in person,  but sit exactly what I was going for.  Still, a nice card for a friend's birthday celebration.

Using my Oriental Orchid Stamp Set

I have been on a bit of a watercolor kick lately.   My *new to me* Altenew Oriental Orchid stamp and die set was just screaming to be used.  I decided to make a set out of the various attempts to get it right.

I started with stamping and embossing with gold the stem and flowers.  I didn't do a stellar job of masking, thinking I could get by adjusting as I went.  I think these cards are passable, but will probably mask differently next time.  After completing all the embossing on watercolor paper, I painted the images using my Mission Gold watercolors.  Again, I think I could have used a more subtle technique, but I like the final result.

Some sequins, a watercolor frame cut with my stitched rectangle die and a white embossed sentiment on vellum and this card set is done.  I'm linking this card up to the following challenges:
